Safeguarding

At this school there is equality in access to the curriculum for every child. No child will be prejudiced against regardless of nationality, race, gender, religion or sexual orientation. We believe that the processes outlined disadvantage no individual or group. We do acknowledge that our policy is in English and should a family whose main language is other than English, become part of safeguarding processes we will make sure their language needs are conveyed to social care and hold social care to account in providing translation and support services as needed.

Please note the policy adjustments to our Safeguarding Policy below during the Covid_19 pandemic.

Safer Recruitment Statement

At The R.J. Mitchell Primary School we aim to ensure safe and fair recruitment is conducted at all times. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is an integral factor in recruitment and is essential part of creating safe environments for children.

The School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy should be read in conjunction with this document, and this can be found on the school’s website. The policy is compliant with the  Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE, September 2021) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (Dec 2020).

Aims and Objectives

To ensure that the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people takes place at each stage of the process.

In order to carry out this process all Senior Leaders will undertake and complete Safer Recruitment Training. The designated safeguarding lead and any deputies shall undergo training to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team who has undergone Safer Recruitment Training will be on each interviewing panel convened.
